About

Conservation, Research and Education Opportunities International (CREOi) is a grant-making 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Seattle, WA. We have been in operation since 2005, evolving from an earlier project to support wildlife research and conservation on the Juan Fernandez Islands in Chile. We are staffed by one part-time position, and our grants and operations are guided by a 5-member volunteer Board of Directors.

We currently support two distinct programs:

CREOi funds research and outreach efforts that promote wildlife, habitat and natural resource conservation. From 2005 to 2015, we supported projects around the world, with an emphasis in South America. As of 2015, we are focusing our resources on conservation issues in the State of Washington, USA. Proposals for new or continuing projects are by invitation only. Continuations are not guaranteed, and CREOi typically will not fund a project more than three times. For summaries of current and previous awards, please see Projects.

We also provide coordination and help recruit students for a biomedical training program in Panama, New Zealand and other research programs abroad. Undergraduate minority students from the U.S. are eligible. For more information on the program and application details, please visit the UCSC-MHIRT Program page.
